In addition to Imperial Black, Angel White, Loving Pink and Special Love, you can now get the Wind U100 netbook in Cherry Red. It is a rich color that inspires passion, mobility and energy, and the ultra-compact 10-inch netbook that weighs just 1Kg is obviously aimed at young girls.

Speaking of technical specifications of the newcomer, it’s all the same as in traditional MSI Winds U100. The laptop comes with a 160GB hard disk, 5200mAh 6 cell battery, wireless a/b/b connectivity and Bluetooth support for short-range wireless transfers from and to compatible gadgets. Like all the other netbooks, MSI Wind U100 is powered by the energy-efficient 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processing technology. One good piece of news for all the Vista haters out there would be that the laptop comes with Windows XP installed on it (which is actually a reasonable move since it would run terribly slow on Vista).

It is the first Medion’s product in the line of cheap netbooks, and it is based on already popular MSI Wind. The 10-inch Akoya Mini E1210 sports an ultra-efficient 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 mobile processor and an integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics card that renders image at 1024 x 600 pixels. It’s backed up by a relatively small 80 GB hard disk and 1GB of DDR2 memory which par for the low price segment of this netbook. The system also comes with a memory card reader, two USB ports, VGA-out port, Ethernet connector, webcam and audio sockets. Unlike with MSN Wind, the E1210 does not support Bluetooth, however with Medion 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi incorporated, it certainly offers better wireless connectivity at faster speeds which mobile users are certainly going to like.

The other difference from MSI Wind is that the Akoya Mini E1210 has Windows XP Home pre-installed, along with Corel WordPerfect Office X3. This may explain why it’s priced a little higher than MSI Wind, which translates to about $640 in the US market.

To keep costs even further down, the operating system installed by default on this laptop is Linux.

The machine also comes with a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 3 USB ports and a SDHC slot. The only thing that is really disappointing about the Wind U90 is its weak 3-cell battery which barely provides for 2 hours of working time.

Compared to older Pepper Pad, the newer model has faster 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, a built-in web camera which is great for video chats, longer battery life, USB and Bluetooth 2.0 device support that allows for connecting an external full-size keyboard, a USB flash drive and just about anything you can think of. Another interesting feature of the Pepper Pad 3 is that there’s no need to wait while the device boots up with the instant-on capability. The devise is ready for using the second you turn it on.

This model is a successor of the previous Eee PC 701 netbook which became a best seller in the low-cost ultra-portables niche (despite the fact that its selling price was higher than it was announced at the pre-launch). The brand new PC 901 model not only sports a more sophisticated 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, but also includes Bluetooth, a capacitive 6-cell 6600mAh battery, 802.11n Intel Wireless Link 4965 Wi-Fi and a 12GB solid state drive. It also has a bigger 8.9-inch display that has 1024 x 600 resolution, its webcam is 1.3 Megapixels, and there are 3 USB 2.0 ports, a card reader and a VGA port for an external monitor.

Users are certainly going to appreciate the fact that the keys of the new Eee 901 are somewhat bigger than on the previous model, although it can still take time to get used to typing on a smaller keyboard. The Asus Eee PC 901 has basically everything that one might require from a portable netbook, it has the connectivity that will suffice you in 95% of the cases, the lightweight and fast SSD drive and easy panel access to all upgradable hardware (be it a hard disk, RAM or a wi-fi card). All in all, this makes the new Asus’ netbook a must-have gadget for mobile users. Let’s cross the fingers though that the price is not too high when the Eee 901 appears in shops.

During the Computex Taipei 2008, Everex introduced its new 7-inch ultra-portable sub-notebook powered by a VIA C7-M 1.6GHz processor, the CloudBook. Besides having a compact size (230×171x33.5mm), the weight of the CloudBook is feathery 970 grams, making it very easy to carry for travel. Besides that, with a price starting at only $399, that won't be such a big loss if you damage your laptop while on the go or something happens to it.

Besides having a compact size (230×171×33.5mm), the weight of the CloudBook is feathery 970 grams, making it very easy to carry for travel. Besides that, with a price starting at only $399, that won’t be such a big loss if you damage your laptop while on the go or something happens to it.

Everex mini-notebook features a 7-inch WVGA TFT display with a resolution of 800 x 480, 512 MB of RAM, a 30gb hard disk (which is rather slow though, as its running speed is only 3600 RPM), VIA UniChrome Pro IGP video card with DVI-out, WiFi, Bluetooth, 0.3 megapixel webcam, media card reader and more. The laptop runs on gOS Rocket operating system which is a variant of Linux. If you are looking for a netbook with even more connectivity options and ready to pay extra money for that, there’s a CloudBook MAX model that has WiMax support.
