The New Laptop by Lenovo: ThinkPad R60

The Lenovo laptop computer company has launched a new laptop in their ThinkPad series, the Lenovo R60 (9457A78). This model is an update to the existing ThinkPad R52 model that is powered by a faster new Intel Core Duo T2500 processor running at 2.00 GHz. The laptop has wi-fi connectivity, ATI X1400 128MB Graphics, 1 Gb DDR2 memory, DVD/CD-RW Combo and 100GB SATA Hard Disk Drive @ 7200 RPM and a 15-inch TFT SXGA+ Screen (1400×1050).

In the ThinkPad R60 Lenovo also offers some additional feature like UltraNav, Finger Print Reader and Bluetooth. The warranty coverage for this model is three years, making it a very good buy.

The Dell XPS M1210 wide screen laptop

The Dell XPS M1210 is the latest 12.1-inch display laptop (the native resolution is 1280×800 pixels) that features a swivel 1.3 megapixel webcam, a 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo processor, an nVidia Go 7400 graphics card with 256 Mb on board memory and built-in 802.11a/g wifi. Compared to the older Dell models, the XPS M1210 has a fresh design which is perhaps one of the the most excellent exemplar of 12-inch laptops on the marketplace.

The make of the Dell XPS M1210 is of especially good quality. The outside is made of a magnesium alloy-like material that gives this laptop a very stylish and expensive look. The top lid feels hard enough to protect your screen from damage. The announced battery life is 4 and a half hours, which is better than in most of 12-inch laptops I have seen. I was one of those who wouldn’t know that Philips produced laptops in the first place, so the news that they introduced a new model, the 12.1-inch widescreen Philips X53, to their line of ultra portable notebooks, didn’t come unnoticed. Built on it a 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo T2050 Processor, the Philips X53 comes with 1GB of RAM, a 80GB hard drive, an integrated Intel GMA950 graphics card with up to 224 MB of shared memory and a DVD burner. The operating system installed on the Philips X53 is Windows XP Home SP2, with a possibility to upgrade to the newest Vista. The laptop hasn’t appeared in major electronic stores yet, but with such an attractive design and specification, it’s definitely worth buying. In the US the laptops will be available under the Averatec brand.

Toshiba Satellite A135 Laptop: starting at $800

The Toshiba Satellite A135 is an inexpensive notebook that can be configured with a variety of different options with the price starting at $800. All the laptop in series have decent performance, full-size keyboard and come with Windows Vista operating system. The CPU in the weakest model is a low-end 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T5200 which can be upgraded to any Socket M processor up to T7600. The default configuration has only 1 GB of RAM so it’s advisable to upgrade memory too.
