Keyboard for the IPad – to Buy or Not?

14 June 2012 No Comments

Apple has always offered the portable keyboards for the iPad in 2 different versions right from the time it was launched. One is the portable dock keyboard and the other is the trademark Apple wireless keyboard. Although both of these versions will cost you the same amount of money (a good $69), the pros and cons of both these are different.

Keyboard for the iPad

Portable dock keyboard

This one is smooth to use. A premium Apple product in white is what this is. It offers amazing viewing angles. Typing on it is just a treat. It has essentially been developed by Apple for those have long typing works and are not able to do their typing work on the touch screen Apple iPad. One disadvantage of this yet another amazing Apple product is that it requires a dock which will cost you another $29. Overall, this is a very good product well worth its money.

Apple wireless keyboard

This is your trademark Apple wireless keyboard. It supports your popular shortcuts like the dock keyboard and is also very easy to use. It requires no additional dock as well. Also, many of the people would already be having it with their iMac. One disadvantage is this that placing the iPad properly for using this keyboard is a bit tedious. And so the viewing angles suffer a bit and so does the typing.

Other options

There are many other options available in the market now. Logitech and Kensington are the companies that offers good and quite inexpensive keyboards for the iPads. There are also many more less known firms that are now offering a keyboard for the iPad, however the official Apple versions are still the things to go for as there is nothing better than that.
