iGo Laptop Travel Adapter & Your New Travel Buddy

If you must travel light, and you’re already thinking about how big and bulky your laptop charger is going to be, why don’t you switch instead to the iGo Green Laptop Adapter?

There’s been a lot of buzz with this product, mostly because of the versatility of its function. It’s becoming more and more difficult to travel without your trusty laptop, but sometimes, in the course of all the coming and going, plugging and unplugging, the battery is the one that pays for it. While you don’t have to bring a spare every single time, at the very least, you should be able to get a good charge for it.

The iGo laptop travel adapter is definitely flexible enough to be able to work with most, if not all, the major laptop brands. Because of this characteristic, you know that you can safely charge whatever laptop may be entrusted to you for your work travel. A great feature of this is its automatic shut-off and recovery, as well as automatic charging. Of course you can’t just leave your laptop to overcharge, as this carries a lot of safety and maintenance issues. Fortunately, this also has a surge-current and voltage protection to make sure that the power being charged to your laptop is in the right amount. Just make sure that it is properly inserted, wait till the middle light is green, and this should mean that the laptop already is charging.

Another good thing about the iGo laptop travel adapter is that you get so much more savings when it comes to using the standby power. You’d be pleasantly amazed when you find out that it saves you as much as up to 85% as compared to a standard charger. That’s already a great deal, especially if you don’t expect yourself to be anywhere near a power source anytime soon.

Making it even more flexible is the included USB port. That way, you can charge not only your laptop, but also all your other mobile gadgets. Just make sure that you bring with you their respective USB tips and cables, because the iGO laptop travel adapter won’t be accounting for those specifics.

It’s perfect for the traveller because of its compact kit, which carries all the other necessary peripherals that you may need. Then again, if travelling light is your goal, then you really won’t have to bring anything else for your laptop but the iGO laptop travel adapter.

Bheestie Bag: an Electronic Device Lifesaver

Imagine yourself in the restroom of a restaurant. You are happily taking a leak when you suddenly had the urge to read the posted wall signs usually located eye level on top of a toilet bowl or urinal. As you fish out your glasses in your breast pocket for a better view, your phone suddenly tumbles out and drops directly into the water. Oh No! What do you do? You pull out your Bheestie bag and place your wet phone inside it is what you need to do. A Bheestie bag, which is the a product of a manufacturer called Bheestie and company, is a 7 by 9 inch foil bag that promises to effectively draw out water and moisture from any wet electronics device using a couple hundred little BB-sized white pellets made up of water-absorbing chemicals.

Better absorption

The key to the success of the Bheestie bag are the water absorbing pellets inside the bag that promise to be 700 percent more absorbent than the usual materials used for water and moisture absorption like that of Silica Gel or dry ice. The majority of the BB-sized pellets inside the foil bag are white in color. However, there a few blue ones mixed in that lose or change their color indicating that their water absorbing quality is already diminishing and that a new Bheestie bag should already be purchased.

Supported devices

The 7 by 9 inch size available in the market today is currently the only size that is currently being produced. This limits the types of electronic devices that it can save from their watery grave to that of iPods, iPads, average size tablets and mobile phones. Unfortunately, the current size of the Bheestie bag does not yet allow you to save a wet laptop as it would not be possible to insert one in the bag.

Drying out period

The period of time one needs to seal their wet electronic device inside the bheestie bag differs depending on the amount of water or moisture that you are trying to remove from your equipment. For regular day wetness or moisture like that of accidental splashes or moisture from an iPod being drenched in one’s sweat after a long run in the park, you can just store the device in the bag until the next time you use it like in a few hours. However, for a device that got totally soaked in water a 24 – 72 hour storage time inside the sealed bag is called for.

The Bheestie bag presents yet another great way for us to save our expensive electronics device from wetness or moisture. You may one to keep one handy in your bag for a rainy day.

Booq Boa Flow laptop backpack

There’s a growing trend of eschewing typical laptop bags for backpacks and it’s a good thing. Typical bags tend to place more weight on one side of the body, thus promoting back problems. Backpacks distribute the weight evenly, thus saving your back. Plus, they’re not seen as dorky like they used to be.

If you’re in the market for a laptop backpack then you should consider the Booq line. Most popular is the Booq Boa (all their products are named after snakes). The Boa Flow in particular is their best seller. It costs just under $200 and can carry a laptop as big as 15.5″ (there’s also XL model for 17-inch laptops). The backpack weighs 4.5 lbs and is made from ballistic nylon with water-repellant coating to protect your laptop from all but the most torrential of rains. The zippers are never going to break, there’s an HD foam compartment inside meant to protect your computer from damage, and there are side pockets to hold your phone, iPod, water bottle, etc. There’s also a 5 year warranty that insures you against product failure. When you pay this much for something you want to know you’re protected.

Zeyner Backfire Leather Laptop Backpack for Bikers

The Zeyner Backfire Leather laptop backpack is an exceptionally expensive item at $400. Obviously you’re not shelling out for that if you don’t have plenty of cash. Still, there are some of you with the kind of money to swing that sort of purchase and you probably want to know if this extravagant accessory is worth the money. The backpack is designed for bikers and by that they mean the kinds of dudes (and ladies) that ride motorcycles, although if you like to ride a bicycle it would work too.

It’s made from black leather with red stitching and it’s made from premium full-grain Nappa leather. It’s designed to stand in an upright position to prevent damage upon falling, the EVA soft shell protects what’s inside, and the laptop compartment inside is tight to fit your computer snugly and prevent jostling. There are pockets for your business card, phone, MP3 player, etc. It also looks really good and that’s a good thing. They’ve designed it so the leather doesn’t rest directly against your back and make you sweat like crazy, which is good. You get what you pay for in this case. Not only is the leather top quality (leather is expensive, so that’s a lot of the price) but the item is amazingly well-designed and will keep your stuff safe.

iSkin SOHO: Laptop Protective Cover

iSkin, a company that became famous for their protective cases for iPods, decided to extend its line of products with a sleeve for Apple MacBook, the SOHO. The new laptop sleeve is available in 5 colors: Sahara (orange), Graphite (grey), Magnum (red), Azure (blue), and Amazon (pink) and is usable for both the 13.3-inch MacBook and 15.4-inch MacBook Pro. Although it is designed for MacBooks, it also works with similar sized PC laptops.

The SOHO sleeve has simulated premium leather finish and offers superior protection for Your MacBook Pro thanks to the reinforced spine. When compared to other protection sleeves, the SOHO is much less flexible and hence offers better protection to Your laptop.

The CardioDesk: use your laptop while walking on a treadmill

Walking on a treadmill is terribly boring. Everyone knows that. That’s probably why most of you aren’t interested in walking on a treadmill. Neuroscientist Bill Softky has come up with a solution for your problem. He knows that guys and girls that love their computers tend to not love getting on the treadmill, but he believes that if you can have your laptop with you, this may change your attitude towards physical exercises. That’s why he designed what he calls the CardioDesk. It’s still in the prototype stage but it’s designed to fit most treadmills and it creates a handy surface that you can place your laptop on while you do your workout.

The CardioDesk folds up to about the size of a book, a one inch thick book. It could easily fit into your laptop bag for easy carrying and the surface allows for your laptop to rest comfortably without worry about it slipping off due to jostling. Obviously it would be a disaster to destroy your computer when you’re trying to get some exercise. Bill is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to raise money to turn this into a widespread product and it seems like an ideal solution. There are currently ways to prop your laptop on a treadmill for exercise but they’re almost all exceptionally expensive or highly involved. This is simple and that’s the beauty of it.

There are numerous studies that prove that walking is one of the best things you can do for the health of your heart. It’s not going to get you into great shape, but it can prolong your life, which is a good thing. If you work all day sitting down you’re shortening your life, too. If you get the blood flowing with some good walking then you’ll be much healthier. That’s why the CardioDesk for your laptop is so smart.

A Review of the Kensington SlimBlade Trackball

The Kensington SlimBlade trackball is powerful multifunctional gadget that made a nice addition to the SlimBlade range of products. With its easy to use and convenient design, it is great product for those with physical problems. A review of the Kensington SlimBlade Trackball is as follows:

Design

This trackball does indeed have a very interesting design. Its base has been made up of granite colored plastic with four rubber pads that prevent it from dancing around your desktop. It has dimensions as big as that of a conventional mouse pad. On putting three fingers on the trackball, you will be able to see 2 huge buttons beneath your thumb and finger that control the left and right clicks. Above the trackball are 2 extra mode buttons that control the application shortcuts of this device.

Features

The device is a plug and play one on both Mac and Windows. To use some of the additional features, a full package has to be downloaded from the Kensington website. Absence of Bluetooth connectivity is major letdown. Its default setting is the navigation mode under which one has complete control over the cursor movements only by moving the ball around.

Good points: Very comfortable for those with physical problems. This gadget can perform many functions, such as controlling media playback, adjusting volume, zooming in and out and many other things that would otherwise be hard to do by a disabled person.

Bad points: Expensive, no Bluetooth, big dimensions, buttons not customizable, changing between 3 modes makes work a tad too much complicated.

Conclusion. The Kensington SlimBlade trackball is a good product for those who have physical ailments and are unable to use standard mice. For the rest, steer clear from it. Not worth it.
