Asetek Presents Liquid Cooling Technology for Laptops

4 May 2012 No Comments

One of the challenges laptop developers face is power versus mobility. If you want a more powerful laptop it’s generally going to be heavier because of the need for more cooling. That means more fans or a bigger liquid cooling solution. That means more space is needed and that means the laptop gets bigger and bulkier, all of which is detrimental to those shopping for the perfect laptop computer that offers them power and portability. The good news is that Asetek, Inc may have the solution laptop manufacturers and buyers need.

Asetek recently announced a new liquid cooling technology designed for high end laptops packed with processing and graphics power. This isn’t for the folks that want a netbook so they can browse Facebook and YouTube. This is for people running high end engineering, financial, scientific, and design programs. Now that such high powered hardware can be put into a laptop it needs a cooling system to go with it and this is the answer.

This is remarkable news for anyone looking to escape from their desktop computer to have the portability of a laptop. The technical details aren’t particularly important, but the important thing to know is that the new technology Asetek developed has finally allowed manufacturers to use liquid cooling effectively in a laptop. Before there just wasn’t enough space inside to install a big enough liquid cooling apparatus so a fan solution was just as smart and cheaper. Now you can go liquid and the result is going to be even more powerful laptops.
