How to use your laptop outdoorsThere is nothing more frustrating than relaxing out in the warm weather but being unable to work on your laptop or listen to your favorite music due to the bright sunlight. This problem is highly common and one that frustrates many. Unless you own a laptop with a transflective screen that allows for working under bright illumination, you’re probably wondering how you can overcome this problem and be frustration free?

Have A Seating Strategy

Think about you’re seating position and how this can either benefit or obstruct your view of the laptop LCD screen. Sit facing the sun as this will reduce the glare and give you a far better chance of being able to see your work.

Although it will drain your battery, it also helps to turn the screen brightness up to full. Having an extension cord and a mains power source at the ready is essential.

Wear Suitable Attire

Sunglasses and a baseball hat are a great investment as they reflect the sun’s rays. Although it may seem counter-intuitive, black clothing absorbs sunlight creating an anti-glare effect.

Laptop Safety

Keeping your laptop healthy and cool is crucial to the longevity of your device. Laptops easily generate their own internal heat which can increase significantly and damage parts if not carefully looked after. Increased with direct sunlight this could prove fatal if exposure for a long duration of time.

Adjustable laptop stands can be purchased which allow for easy use and help to disperse the sunlight off hot surfaces. Many stands come with a built-in fan which helps facilitate cool air.

Additional Laptop Accessories

There are a variety of accessories that you can purchase for your laptop that will benefit your visibility. With most modern laptops the glossy screen finish isn’t so useful however purchasing a laptop with a matte screen finish can be useful or an anti-glare screen filter which are inexpensive and can be temporarily fitted over the LCD. You could even perhaps make your own DIY sunshield out of a cardboard box. Place you laptop in a box and this is a perfect way to view your laptop screen successfully. Even though it may look odd, it is highly effective and inexpensive.

In whichever way you choose to keep your new laptop cool and sunlight free, it’s important that you keep your device healthy and out of the direct heat for an extended duration of time.
