The Incredible Toshiba Portege M70

Have you been looking for a PC tablet that’s going to be great on the go? Most people nowadays, whether students or business professionals, lug around their laptops so that they can finish whatever it is that they need to finish wherever they may be. Mobility has been one of foremost considerations when it comes to gadgets, and in this regard, the Toshiba Portege M700 model definitely makes the cut.

This PC tablet weighs in at a featherweight 2kg at 12.1 inches. Despite its ergonomic size, however, its specs definitely pack a whopping punch. That’s just about as great as any combination possible for any hardware.

The build is rather sturdy, despite it being uber-lightweight, hosting a native resolution of 1280×800 for its amazing LED backlit display. The screen has a dual-function, allowing you to easily switch from a touchscreen tablet – with a trusty stylus at that! – and laptop monitor. It’s sheer versatility anyway you want it. All you have to do is rotate the screen, press it down against the keyboard, and voila! Your Toshiba Portege M700 has now transformed from a notebook to a tablet that you can wield around like it’s some sort of digital notepad. It must be noted that the advanced touch screen is very responsive and accurate.

Now for its internal specs, you will be pleasantly satisfied with its Intel Core 2 Duo T7250, which clocks in at 2GHz. It carries Windows Vista, and is sensibly complemented with a 2GB standard ram. Storage is at 120GB hard disk, and an internal DVD writer makes it safer for you knowing that you can easily back up your data. Okay, so it only has 2MB cache, but all things considered, this should be fairly easy to overlook. Besides, if it’s Internet you want, it’s Internet you’ll get, thanks to its variety of connections in the form of Draft-N Wi-Fi, integrated Bluetooth adapter, and Intel Gigabit Ethernet.

It’s definitely not perfect, though, particularly if you have big hands. The keyboard feels a little too small for comfort, and the battery life definitely could use improvement. Some praise the touchpad for being sensitive enough to do your commands, but others find it a little bit too sensitive for their taste. Also, it seems like such a tease because its quick-launch buttons are oddly not user-programmable.

In sum, however, the Toshiba Portege M700 tablet PC could be your all-in-one companion, catering to your digital needs. Making the switch from work to play has never been this easy and stylish. The announced price for this excellent piece of hardware is around $1,500.
