MSI Wind U90 ultra-compact 8.9-inch netbook

After its success with the Wind U100 series, MSI decided to take one step back and released an even cheaper and smaller netbook, the MSI Wind U90. It shares the same entirely black design and 1.1kg chassis with its “older brother”, but has a smaller 8.9-inch 1024 x 600 screen and a reduced 80GB hard drive which is still sufficient for most needs of target audience of this laptop (storing music, pictures and documents). To keep costs even further down, the operating system installed by default on this laptop is Linux.

The machine also comes with a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 3 USB ports and a SDHC slot. The only thing that is really disappointing about the Wind U90 is its weak 3-cell battery which barely provides for 2 hours of working time.

Technical specifications of the MSI Wind U90:

  • Intel Atom CPU at 1.6 GHz
  • UMA video card
  • 1GB DDR2 RAM (667 Mhz)
  • 80 GB HDD
  • 4-in-1 card reader SD/MMC/MS/MSpro
  • Webcam
  • WiFi
  • Bluetooth
