Acer Ferrari 1100 Laptop
Although Acer is mostly known for its inexpensive notebooks, their is a high-end notebook line in their product range that they co-brand with Ferrari (similarly to Asus and their Lamborghini-series laptops). The Asus Ferrari 1100 is a 12-inch laptop with a speedy 2.3GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 processor and sophisticated design, that retails for $1,999. Unlike cheaper Acer’s models, that are supposed to resemble the inside of a BMW, the Acer Ferrari 1100 feels and looks as sleek as its namesake. The chassis is made of matte black carbon fiber with shiny gray accents. The lid is made of smooth grey plastic and there’s Ferrari’s tiny yellow logo stamped in the middle. To add even more to the look and feel of a legendary racing car, there’s also a Ferrari branded mouse, a tiny Bluetooth Skype VoIP phone and a carrying case included.
As one may expect from such a top-notch laptop, Acer Ferrari 1100 features a number of high end features. It comes with an impressive 4GB of DDR2 RAM, a spacious 250GB 5400rpm SATA HDD with shock protection, a discrete ATI Radeon X1270 graphics card and a high definition 12-inch 1,280 x 800 LED-backlit screen. To use all the system memory to the fullest, there’s a 64-bit Windows Vista ultimate OS installed. One thing that might disappoint you is relatively short battery life time of 2 hours which is definitely less than one may expect from a high-end ultra-portable computer designed for frequent use on the go.
