Consumer demand for laptops, netbooks, and tablet computers is projected to be strong through 2015. Projections vary, but even the most conservative of them estimate combined sales in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Analysis firm Forrester predicts sales of 195 million tablets from 2010 to 2015. They estimate Apple will be the biggest seller by far; no surprise there. Another firm, eMarketer, predicts tablet sales of 81.3 million in 2012 alone. They’re quite bullish on the market, obviously. All predictions say that tablet computer sales will eventually surpass laptop sales.
That doesn’t mean the sales of laptops are slowing down though. In 2015 nearly 40 million laptops are expected to be sold and you can add another 14 million netbooks onto that number. The revenue generated is still going to be exceptional, particularly since many laptops are far more expensive than tablet computers. The only computer market predicted to decline is desktop PC sales, which are said to come in at just over 18 million in 2015. Those rising numbers means good things for consumers. Generally, the more product being moved the cheaper it’s going to be as it becomes cheaper to manufacture it in such high volume. That means you can count on paying even less for your computers and tablet PCs. Someday iPads will get cheaper, I swear. Tags: ipadlaptopnetbooknotebooktablet pc
